Financial Advisor, RJFS
After nearly 30 years of government service, Bill retired and began a second career as a Financial Advisor. While with the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission, Bill held several positions from a Planner to Budget/Legislative Coordinator, Departmental Budget Manager and most recently as Administrative Services Division Chief. Bill’s strong background in budget, financial management and administration has prepared him well for his second career. Past President Larry Grabenstein offered Bill a position when they first met because of his strong interests and already keen knowledge in the investment markets. However, Bill held off until March 2016 when he could fully retire from the government and is now an enthusiastic member of the firm.
As a Financial Advisor, Bill believes in fully educating his clients on all aspects of their financial life. He takes his fiduciary responsibility very seriously to ensure that his clients are getting his very best professional advice and recommendations based on their specific circumstances. Knowing that no two clients are the same, Bill works diligently to understand the clients’ goals and attitudes toward investing to help build a long-lasting relationship. He loves working with the young, inexperienced, beginning investor to mentor them in their financial life and help them grow, as well as those retired or approaching retirement to help them preserve their capital and maximize their income. In his work, Bill’s philosophy is to create and continuously review a balanced, well-positioned financial plan and portfolio that can meet multiple goals over the long market cycle.
Bill has an undergraduate degree from his hometown college, Frostburg State University, and a Master of Arts degree from the University of Maryland. He and his wife Mary are very active University of Maryland Athletic Department supporters, both financially and with their time mentoring students. Bill enjoys playing golf, running, exercising, and watching any and every basketball game he can. Mary and Bill live in Bowie, MD with their Sheltie dog, Tallon.
