I was reminded this weekend by the many signs around me that summer has now officially come to an end and we are quickly entering the final few months of the year – whether we are ready for it or not! The kids are now back in school, football season is in full swing, and I overheard a conversation my wife was having with friends about how many mums she NEEDS to buy for our front porch.  I welcome all of those things and I’m looking forward to the coming months.

Another conversation you might be having in the near future is regarding holiday plans and family get-togethers.  It’s been a few weeks since I’ve stepped into a Costco or any other department store, but I’m willing to bet there’s no shortage of holiday decorations available for us to buy!  Family get-togethers tend to stir up all sorts of emotions for us…some good and some not so good, but they can also be an excellent opportunity to discuss things as a family that you may be putting off for a “better” time.

The articles that we are sharing with you in this month’s edition of “The Heron” are meant to get you thinking about some planning topics and/or conversations that you might want to have with family while visiting this holiday season.  Yes, you’ve probably guessed it – we’re talking primarily about estate planning!  We’ll be the first to admit that talking about what happens to your estate upon your passing is probably not going to make you the life of the party, but we are absolutely certain that your family, friends, and heirs will thank you one day for being well-prepared and organized with your estate and assets.

As always, we are here for you and offer our assistance and guidance as you have these difficult conversations and make these important decisions for you and your loved ones.  If there is anything we can do for you, please don’t hesitate to let us know.
